Virginia Judge Strikes Down ObamaCare Reform

A U.S. district judge on Monday threw out the nation's health care law, declaring it unconstitutional because it violates the Commerce Clause and surely reviving a feud among competing philosophies about the role of government.

Judge Roger Vinson, in Pensacola, Fla., ruled that as a result of the unconstitutionality of the "individual mandate" that requires people to buy insurance, the entire law must be declared void.

"I must reluctantly conclude that Congress exceeded the bounds of its authority in passing the act with the individual mandate. That is not to say, of course, that Congress is without power to address the problems and inequities in our health care system. The health care market is more than one-sixth of the national economy, and without doubt Congress has the power to reform and regulate this market. That has not been disputed in this case. The principal dispute
has been about how Congress chose to exercise that power here," Vinson wrote.

"While the individual mandate was clearly 'necessary and essential' to the act as drafted, it is not 'necessary and essential' to health care reform in general," he continued. "Because the individual mandate is unconstitutional and not severable, the entire act must be declared void."

Department of Justice spokeswoman Tracy Schmaler said the department plans to appeal Vinson's ruling to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.

?We strongly disagree with the court?s ruling today and continue to believe ? as other federal courts have found ? that the Affordable Care Act is constitutional," she said. "There is clear and well-established legal precedent that Congress acted within its constitutional authority in passing this law and we are confident that we will ultimately prevailon appeal.

"We are analyzing this opinion todetermine what steps, if any -- including seeking a stay -- are necessary while the appeal is pending to continue our progress toward ensuring that Americans do not lose out onthe importantprotections this law provides, thatthe millions of children and adults who depend on Medicaid programs receive the care the law requires, and that the millions of seniors on Medicare receive the benefits they need," she added.

The case is undoubtedly headed to the Supreme Court. But for now, opponents of President Obama's signature domestic legislation exalted while supporters denounced the decision.

"I applaud the ruling today by Judge Vinson," said Florida Gov. Rick Scott, who, prior to getting elected in November, helped lead the charge against the law. "In making his ruling, the judge has confirmed what many of us knew from the start -- ObamaCare is an unprecedented and unconstitutional infringement on the liberty of the American people. ... Patients should have more control over health care decisions than a federal government that is spending money faster than it can be printed."

"Judge Vinson's decision is radical judicial activism run amok, and it will undoubtedly be reversed on appeal. The decision flies in the face of three other decisions, contradicts decades of legal precedent, and could jeopardize families' health care security," said Ron Pollack, executive director of Families USA. "If this decision were allowed to stand, it would have devastating consequences for America's families."

Vinson's decision, while surprising, was not unforeseen. In October, the judge dismissed four of the six counts in the suit led by then-Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum and joined by 25 other states. But he allowed two counts, including one challenging the law's controversial requirement that Americans buy health insurance, to proceed. Arguments were heard in December.

In his earlier ruling, Vinson said that a government report called the requirement to buy insurance legally unprecedented and worth examining in court.

"The individual mandate applies across the board. People have no choice and there is no way to avoid it. Those who fall under the individual mandate either comply with it, or they are penalized. It is not based on an activity that they make the choice to undertake. Rather, it is based solely on citizenship and on being alive," he wrote.

Nearly two dozen suits have been filed in federal courts, but Monday's ruling is the biggest judicial decision to come down the pike since Congress last March passed the bill aimed at covering 30 million uninsured Americans whether they want insurance or not.

In other cases, a federal district judge in Richmond, Va., ruled the individual mandate is unconstitutional but left standing other parts of the law. In Michigan, the argument concerning the "individual mandate"-- the central tenet that requires Americans to start buying health insurance in 2014 or pay a penalty -- was thrown out by another federal judge.

"That judge, under his mindset, said basically if someone thought that I were overweight, if they rule this way, the federal government would be able to mandate that I go down to the Gold's Gym and fill out an application and contract with Gold's Gym to lose weight and lower my cholesterol," said South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, whose state is among the parties filing the multi-state suit. "That is the kind of logic that we're going to right now where you're actually telling people that they have to engage in an activity and that is simply too broad a policy for the federal government."

Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a repeal of the 10-year, $1 trillion plan that critics say will cost closer to $2.6 trillion. But the repeal bill will likely die in the Senate, meaning Vinson's ruling is the newest grounds on which supporters and opponents proceed.

Defenders of the law say that Americans need to be covered from ruthless insurance companies that either refuse to insure children with illnesses and adults with pre-existing conditions or charge exorbitant amounts for individual coverage. The law aims to provide a federal umbrella under which Americans can purchase and keep insurance regardless of their health, career changes or ability to pay.

But Vinson said that is not the U.S. government's job.

"Regardless of how laudable its attempts may have been to accomplish these goals in passing the act, Congress must operate within the bounds established by the Constitution. Again, this case is not about whether the act is wise or unwise legislation. It is about the constitutional role of the federal government," he wrote.

Supporters of the law also note that Congressional Budget Office figures that show if repealed, government deficits will climb by $230 billion over the next 10 years.

Critics counter with a "junk in, junk out" description of the CBO's estimates, claiming the numbers used to reach the conclusions are bogus and based on best-case scenarios that don't realize additional spending and unlikely savings, particularly as the law, in the first decade, collects taxes for 10 years though it only pays for six years of coverage and relies on money to be collected for a separate health program -- Medicare.

In his State of the Union address, Obama said he was willing to open his mind to changes in the law if they made dollars and sense and didn't prevent patients with pre-existing conditions or other barriers to insurance companies from gaining coverage.

He pointed to the near-universally hated 1099 provision that orders businesses to report to the Internal Revenue Service all purchases exceeding $600 as the first provision to be scrapped.

Obama Chief of Staff Bill Daley repeated the president's position on Sunday, adding that the law was intended to help employers as much as patients.

"The president has said he's open to changes to this. He is not open to re-fighting the entire fight of health care," Daley told CBS' "Face the Nation."

"I absolutely believe, having been in business and hearing from business people, the importance of a need for the reform of health care. It was the business community that was really saying to the politicians, this is costing us too much, it's too much of a wet blanket on the economy," he said.

Foreign adoptions by Americans hit 15-year low

The number of foreign children adopted by Americans fell by 13 percent last year, reaching the lowest level since 1995 due in large part to a virtual halt to adoptions from Guatemala because of corruption problems.

China remained America's No. 1 source of adopted children, accounting for 3,401, according to figures released by the State Department on Monday for the 2010 fiscal year. Ethiopia was second, at 2,513, followed by Russia at 1,082 and South Korea at 863.

Guatemala was the No. 1 source country in 2008, with 4,123 adoptions by Americans. But the number sank to 756 for 2009 and to only 51 last year as the Central American country's fraud-riddled adoption industry was shut down while authorities drafted reforms.

The overall figures for 2010 showed 11,059 adoptions from abroad, down from 12,753 in 2009 and down more than 50 percent from the all-time peak of 22,884 in 2004.

The last time there were fewer foreign adoptions to the U.S. was in 1995, when there were 9,679.

The latest figures did not include the more than 1,100 children airlifted from Haiti to the United States after the earthquake in January 2010. Most of those children were in the U.S. adoption pipeline, but the adoptions were not finalized by the end of the fiscal year.

The adoptions from Ethiopia were up by more than 200 from 2009, but adoptions from Russia fell by about 500.

Some pending adoptions from Russia were slowed after a Tennessee adoptive mother put a 7-year-old boy on a plane back to Moscow, unaccompanied by an adult, in April. As a result, U.S. officials agreed to a Russian demand to negotiate a new, binding agreement to cover adoptions between the two countries.

Organizations representing U.S. adoption agencies have called on the U.S. government to be more active in trying to reverse the decline in international adoptions. However, the State Department says any such efforts must be accompanied by initiatives to provide better options for orphans in their home countries, including support for birth parents and foster care.

"Not every child is going to be eligible for international adoption," said Susan Jacobs, the State Department's special adviser on children's issues. "The first thing we need to do is protect children in their own countries."

The State Department also reported that 43 American children were adopted by residents of foreign countries last year ? 19 of them went to Canada and 18 to the Netherlands.

Elliot Worsell: Anderson Silva -- Bored or on Borrowed Time?

It's fair to say Superman was never quite as invigorated by the prospect of rescuing a cat from a tree than he was propping up a falling skyscraper with a stray pinky. Considered by many to be the Superman of mixed martial arts, Anderson 'The Spider' Silva looks wonderful when lifting buildings with one finger, yet, when uninspired and complacent, often struggles getting cats down from trees.

Silva is, of course, the incredibly gifted UFC world middleweight champion and a fighter undefeated in 12 UFC bouts. Upon joining the organization in June 2006, Silva dominated Chris Leben, Rich Franklin (twice), Travis Lutter, Nate Marquardt and Dan Henderson with frightening ease. Rarely pushed beyond the first round, Silva operated with a swagger and purpose, underpinned by a need to perform and prove himself the best in the world. He quickly became champion.

As middleweight title defenses began to mount up, Silva sought fresh challenges in the light-heavyweight division. His middleweight peers had become timid cats and Silva had ran out of trees to climb. As a result, he blitzed 205-pounder James Irvin in July 2008 and thus kickstarted a process of leaping between the two divisions.

He retained his middleweight crown, of course, but, with the lure of bigger men and bigger punches up above, Silva would never appear the same back down in the 185-pound weight class. In one-round dismissals of Irvin and then Forrest Griffin, a purposeful Silva seemed on edge and in a hurry, and struck a similar pose to the one held when first entering the UFC. He knew the light-heavyweights hit harder, were physically stronger and boasted dimensions on him. There was a tangible sense of risk, despite his success.

When the time came to return home and continue saving cats from trees, however, Silva cut a bored and forlorn figure. Since defeating Irvin in his initial light-heavyweight cameo, the middleweight king has labored to victories over Patrick Cote, Thales Leites, Demian Maia and, most recently, Chael Sonnen. He successfully retained his belt against each challenger, but pitched performances draped in curiosity, controversy and anti-climax. The impatient destroyer of past UFC triumphs had made way for a petulant, pretentious and painfully patient pacifist.

Jiu-jitsu experts Leites and Maia didn't suit him and went five rounds, while Cote defeated himself via injury. Last August, a rampaging Sonnen bagged four rounds and appeared seconds from beating Silva, before falling foul of a triangle choke in the dying embers of the fifth session. Unlike Silva, the challenger couldn't escape. Four rounds down, Silva's escape was Houdini-esque.

The champion's last four title defenses have been as perplexing as his first few were thrilling, and many have wondered how we got to this point. Some have said that Silva finds the running of his natural domain too easy and that he is only enthused by physical challenges in the division above. Understandable, perhaps, were he not actually fighting better opponents at middleweight than he has been at light-heavyweight. The myth of Silva being unopposed as a middleweight no longer rings true. Cote was a dangerous puncher, who enjoyed spurts of success, Leites and Maia had the ground skills to trouble him, and Sonnen, of course, bullied the Brazilian on his feet and on the ground. Whether it's due to his own complacency or the styles of his opponents, the middleweight Silva has certainly been tested of late.

So this brings me to the concept of age and wear-and-tear. Whisper it quietly, but Silva isn't Superman and will eventually age and slow down. The Brazilian turns 36 in April and has been fighting his entire life. He is older than namesake Wanderlei Silva and both the Nogueira brothers and has fought professionally as a mixed martial artist for more than a decade now. Though never one to ship too much punishment, Silva boasts a style that relies heavily on explosive movement, expert timing and unparalleled speed. As any follower of combat sports will tell you, those are the three elements most desired by Father Time when he comes-a-knocking.

So, if complacency isn't a reasonable excuse for recent showings, perhaps age and the inevitable slide of a 36-year-old fighter is. After all, nobody can pinpoint the moment when it happens. Sometimes it just creeps up on a man. Would the Silva of 2006 really have taken five rounds and 25 minutes to defeat the likes of Maia and Leites, two pure grapplers with a clear aversion to any potential fisticuffs? I don't believe he would have.

The Maia 'performance' in Abu Dhabi last April was perhaps the most revealing and ominous of Silva's recent outings. While one can excuse him for struggling with master wrestler Sonnen, the champion's bizarre date with Maia disturbed fans to a far greater extent. Explosive and spiteful to begin with, Silva burnt up plenty of energy kicking, punching and taunting a hapless Maia in the opening round of their middleweight standoff. However, by the third round, Silva's tank appeared to empty and Maia, astonished he was still upright and firing, started to come on strong down the stretch.

Boasting rudimentary striking skills and flimsy technique, Maia nevertheless fell back on immense heart and strength of mind to push Silva and connect with a series of left hands from the southpaw stance. Merely content to dance away and occasionally poke out his tongue, most assumed Silva was simply hitting cruise control, seeing out the contest and, in the process, mocking his fellow Brazilian.

He wasn't. The comedy routine occurred early, but, by the time Maia wiped the blood congregating beneath his nose and began to fight back in the fourth and fifth rounds, Silva was out of puff and unable to sustain any of his attacks. The snap and explosiveness had departed his limbs, and he was only left with the annoying ability to pull faces from out of range.

Maia didn't boast the skills nor power to capitalize on Silva slowing down that April night in Yas Island. However, next Saturday (February 5) at UFC 126, Silva defends his belt against another fellow Brazilian, Vitor Belfort, a man armed with more than enough striking prowess to derail Silva, should the champion become either complacent or old.

Two years younger at 33, Belfort possesses the kind of punch power that could either install necessary fear within Silva's mind or, alternatively, switch out the champion's lights. If Belfort's fists inspire and terrify Silva into action, we could all witness something special from the self-styled 'Spider.' We may reunite with a fighter keen to eradicate memories of that epic struggle with Sonnen last August. Remember me, guys?

Conversely, by Sunday morning, we may also come to terms with the next stage in the decline of a legendary fighting champion. We've reached a fascinating juncture in Silva's career and, at 36, you can never rule out the possibility of natural progression overtaking any desire the eccentric champion may have or have not to fight. Though he always looks to be in control whenever he competes, nobody can control passing days, weeks, months and years. If recent form is anything to go by, for whatever reason, the unbeatable has never looked more beatable.

Uncle Sam Wants You... To Hold the Salt

For the first time, the U.S. government is advising that more than half of the American population needs to drastically cut their daily salt intake.

According to new dietary guidelines, those who are most at risk for high blood pressure; including those over the age of 51; African-Americans; those suffering from hypertension; diabetes or chronic kidney disease, which together make up half the U.S. population are being urged to consume only about a half a teaspoon of salt a day.

The Agriculture and Health and Human Services departments issue the guidelines every five years, and recommends that everyone else stick to the ?teaspoon a day? guideline of 2,300 milligrams, which is about one-third less than the average person usually consumes.

The assault on salt is aimed strongly at the food industry, which is responsible for the majority of sodium most people consume. Most salt intake doesn't come from the shaker on the table; it's hidden in foods such as breads, chicken and pasta.

It has long been known that too much sodium increases the risk of high blood pressure, stroke and other problems. But cutting the salt won't be easy.

The prestigious Institute of Medicine has said it could take years for consumers to get used to the taste of a lower-salt diet. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said the government is trying to be realistic while targeting the highest-risk groups.

"I think it's important for us to do this in a way that doesn't create an immediate backlash," he said. "If we fail to get our arms around the obesity epidemic, especially in our children, we're going to see a significant increase in health care costs over time."

Several large food companies have already introduced initiatives to cut sodium and introduced low-sodium alternatives, but it's unclear if the industry will be able to cut enough to satisfy the new guidelines. The Food and Drug Administration has said it will pressure companies to take voluntary action before it moves to regulate salt intake.

Dr. Howard Koh, assistant secretary at the Health and Human Services Department, said food companies will have to make cuts for the reductions to work.

"Even the most motivated consumer can make only a certain amount of progress before it's clear that we need extra support from the food industry," Koh said.

Consumers still have some control. To reduce the risk of disease from high sodium intake, the guidelines say people should:

?Read nutrition labels closely and buy items labeled low in sodium.

?Use little or no salt when cooking or eating.

?Consume more fresh or home-prepared foods and fewer processed foods, so they know exactly what they are eating.

?Ask that salt not be added to foods at restaurants.

?Gradually reduce sodium intake over time to get used to the taste.

Other recommendations in the guidelines are similar to previous years ? limit trans fats, reduce calorie intake from solid fats and added sugars, eat fewer refined grains and more whole grains, consume less than 300 mg per day of cholesterol. The guidelines also recommend eating less than 10 percent of calories from saturated fats ? full-fat cheese and fatty meats, for example.

The government promotes these guidelines to consumers by using a symbolic pyramid.

Introduced more than five years ago, it doesn't specify recommended amounts of foods but directs people to a USDA website that details the guidelines. That replaced an old pyramid that specified what to eat after surveys showed that few people followed it.

Vilsack said USDA may come out with a new icon, but that won't be for a few more months. For now, the government wants consumers to focus on the guidelines themselves.

He says the recommendations ? coupled with efforts from industry and other government campaigns for healthy eating, such as first lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" initiative ? should bring about some change in the country's diet.

"I don't think it necessarily has to take a generation or two to see some progress," he said.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

25 arrested at California conservative meeting

Twenty-five people were arrested for trespassing Sunday as hundreds protested outside a strategy session of conservative political donors at a resort near Palm Springs, authorities said.

The mostly peaceful demonstration had been arranged with authorities, but some protesters crossed the street to the entrance of the Rancho Las Palmas Resort where they were met by deputies in riot gear, Riverside County Deputy Melissa Nieburger said. They were arrested without a struggle, booked at Indio Jail and released.

Sunday was the second day of the four-day, invitation-only conclave of about 200 wealthy conservative political activists. It was organized by brothers David and Charles Koch, whose Wichita, Kan.-based Koch Industries is one of the nation's largest privately held companies.

The brothers have held similar conclaves in the Palm Springs area and Aspen, Colo., for years, but this conference was met with increased scrutiny. Liberal groups have targeted the brothers for criticism because of their funding of the fight against global warming laws and their financial support of Americans for Prosperity, an organization that has worked closely with tea party groups.

The group did not say who was attending the conference, and reporters were not allowed inside the resort, but the strategy sessions in years past have included radio talkers Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, and Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, according to The New York Times.

Organizer Samantha Corbin told City News Service the protesters were there to "voice opposition to the Koches' funding of climate denial groups, far-right political candidates and anti-health care reform efforts."

Protesters carried signs reading "Troops Home Now," ''Medicare for All" and "Tea Party Founded and Funded By The Kochs."

Several dozen people dressed in hazardous materials suits and held police tape and a banner that read "Quarantine the Kochs."

The protest, which had nearly 1,000 people at its peak, lasted about two hours.

Koch Industries defended the gathering as an exercise in democratic assembly and service to the country.

"This conference brings together some of our nation's most successful business leaders, job creators and those who make it a priority to support their communities and our country in significant ways," said Nancy Pfotenhauer, a spokeswoman for the company.

"We respect all Americans' rights to free speech and to peaceably assemble," she said in a written statement. "It is disappointing that some members of the group protesting today made the choice to not be respectful of the community or of our right to meet."

Clinton: U.S. Has No Plans To Suspend Aid to Haiti

The United States has no plans to halt aid to earthquake-ravaged Haiti in spite of a crisis over who will be the nation's next leader but does insist that the president's chosen successor be dropped from the race, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday.

Clinton arrived Sunday in the impoverished Caribbean nation for a brief visit. She is scheduled to meet with President Rene Preval and each of the three candidates jockeying to replace him.

Only two candidates can go on to the delayed second round, now scheduled for March 20. The U.S. is backing an Organization of American States recommendation that the candidate from Preval's party, government construction official Jude Celestin, should be left out.

The top U.S. official at the United Nations, Susan Rice, said recently that "sustained support" from the United States required the OAS recommendations be implemented. Many Haitian officials, including leaders of Preval's Unity party and rival candidate Michel Martelly, interpreted that to mean the U.S. was threatening an embargo and cutting off aid.

Clinton flatly rebuffed that suggestion. "We're not talking about any of that," she said Sunday.

"We have a deep commitment to the Haitian people," she told reporters. "That goes to humanitarian aid, that goes to governance and democracy programs, that will be going to a cholera treatment center."

Asked if there were any set of circumstances that would prompt Washington to cut off aid, Clinton said, "At this point, no."

Still, she insisted that the United States would press the recommendations by international monitors after a disorganized, fraud-ridden first-round presidential vote in November. They determined that Preval's preferred successor, Celestin, finished last and should drop out. Celestin has yet to do so.

"We're focused on helping the Haitian people," Clinton said ahead of the meetings. "One of the ways we want to help them is by making sure that their political choices are respected."

Haiti is in a deepening and potentially destabilizing political crisis. The announcement of preliminary results from the disputed first round led to rioting in December. Final results are expected to be announced Wednesday.

Just five days after, on Feb. 7, comes the constitutional end of Preval's five-year term.

A law passed by an expiring Senate last May would allow him to remain in power for an extra three months, but it is not clear if his government would continue to be recognized by donor countries. But Preval has said he does not want to hand power to an interim government.

"That's one of the problems we have to talk about," Clinton said. "There are issues of a continuing government, how that can be structured. And that's what I'm going to be discussing."

Acknowledging the tight time frame for Haiti, she said she wanted to hear ideas on how Haiti's transition should be handled but then make her own assessment on the best way forward.

The political crisis comes as the Western Hemisphere's poorest nation tries to restart its economy after decades of stifling poverty and unemployment, and the massive loss of life and infrastructure in last year's earthquake.

Hundreds of thousands of people remain in homeless camps and major rebuilding has not started. Underlying issues such as land-tenure reform and the development and reconstruction of government institutions have barely been addressed. Massive piles of rubble and collapsed buildings remain throughout the capital.

Meanwhile, a cholera epidemic that started outside the quake zone and has killed more than 4,000 people continues to rage. Clinton visited a tented treatment center Sunday.

She said reconstruction has been steady "but not adequate to the task that we are confronting."

"The problems are significant," Clinton told the pool of reporters traveling with her. "Like what do you do with all the rubble? It's a really big problem."

Android Honeycomb port for Nook Color gets graphics acceleration, first demo video

Can't wait until February 2nd to see more of Android 3.0 in action? That's not a problem, as today we've got a whole 129 seconds of video showing Google's latest mobile software doing its thing on the Nook Color. The OS was ported to B&N's tablet on Friday, when we were promised further work would be taking place over the weekend to enable hardware acceleration of the GUI, and what do you know, that goal has been achieved with plenty of Sunday to spare! Most core functionality is still not available, but the delicious Honeycomb interface is very much in effect. Jump past the break for the eye candy feast.

[Thanks, Jules]

Kendra Wilkinson's Lesbian Sex Tape Revealed (PHOTO)

Kendra Wilkinson may need to turn the camera off.

RadarOnline.com reports that Wilkinson, whose sex tape with high school boyfriend Justin Frye hit the airwaves in May 2010, is in another sex tape from the same era -- this time a lesbian sex scene -- with high school friend Taryn Ryan. The video is shot by Frye himself.

"Kendra and Taryn started fooling around and then Kendra wanted the light turned off," a source told RadarOnline.com. "But the camera that was recording them had night vision, so it looks like the Paris Hilton porn tape. Everything is completely clear.

Wilkinson made a public effort to block the publication of the sex tape last year, but it was soon revealed, again by Radar, that she had actually set up a company in 2008 to sell multiple sex tapes to the highest bidder. The former Playmate and 'Girls Next Door' star made $680,000 for the video and half of the profits that was eventually released by Vivid Entertainment.

Whether this one sees the light of day -- and perhaps how much Wilkinson is paid for it -- remains to be seen. Wilkinson is married to NFL player Hank Baskett.

U.S. Embassy In Cairo Urges Americans To Leave Egypt

CAIRO ? The U.S. Embassy is telling Americans in Egypt to consider leaving the country as soon as possible.

The Sunday morning travel warning says the Embassy will update Americans about departure assistance as soon as possible. It says U.S. citizens should avoid travel to Egypt because of unrest, violence, and ongoing demonstrations against President Hosni Mubarak's government.

The warning is an escalation in the assessment of the situation by the U.S. government, which previously had advised against non-essential travel to Egypt.

China Blocks 'Egypt' On Twitter-Like Microblog Sina

China has blocked the word "Egypt" from appearing in searches on its country's popular Twitter-like service, Sina.

A search for "Egypt'' on the microblogging site brings up a message saying, "According to relevant laws, regulations and policies, the search results are not shown."

PCWorld reports that only the Chinese version of 'Egypt' is blocked though, and the English version returns results.

The news comes in light of recent developments in Egypt, which have included a fresh wave of protests, Egyptian Internet being shut down, and growing looting.

Launched in Aug. 2009, Sina has more than 80 million users and is said to be growing rapidly -- adding as many as 10 million users per month.

Due to the success of Twitter, China also launched a state-run microblog in December, which has earned the nickname "Red Twitter."

For those who don?t remember, this is the result of the most successful Kickstarter project ever.

We then dive into the Google stuff including Eric Schmidt being replaced by Larry Page as CEO, Google?s index changes, Google Voice number porting, and the upcoming Android Honeycomb event. Watch it above.
